Confucius Temple

While I was in China over the summer I took tons of pictures. Now I just need to share them!! I know I am slow at it but now is better than never, right? Here are some images from our journey through the temple and cemetery of Confucius. We went with some friends, picked up a few souvenirs, and really just took in the site at a laid-back pace. I think I admired the trees and colors most of all.

kitchen | sneak peak

i am not done painting the kitchen cabinets and don't know if i will finish this semester.
i thought i'd be able to do it all before school started but
my arms feel as though they could fall off.
i am tired of painting!
somebody help!
maybe i can finish it on some weekends or christmas break.

i did get a good portion done and all i have left are the top cabinets.
there are a lot of cabinets in this kitchen,
two rows of cabinets that go to the ceiling. it is crazy!
it is like somebody went cabinet installation happy.
so for now here is a little peak of some portions of the kitchen.

i got some really cool kitchen decor for my birthday!
ok, i'll get started on making those cookies from my new book!
     haha!

little details

i loved capturing the details of these girls.
i love their cute little hands, their colorful clothes, and how they just love accessories!
they actually prompted me to take a few of these. i was on the pink team
for VBS and the girls in my group decorated the pink flag with flowers and hearts.
i just love these beautiful girls!

streets of chennai :: pongal holiday

a few of us ventured out with our cameras one morning.
we were aching to get out on the streets where all the action was,
and apparently where all the color was too!
we happened to be out during the Pongal holiday and were greeted by people
passing by saying "happy pongal." we just replied with a "happy pongal" back.
we had no idea what that was, or i didn't anyway.
i am not sure if those scraps in the trash were from holiday decor
but somebody snatched a few for a souvenir!

so the guy at the top was my favorite street shot.
he was curious of us and we were happy to meet friendly people. he saw that we all had big cameras wrapped around our necks and then asked for us to take his picture.
at first we took a normal shot of him just standing and smiling,
but then he got into it and posed
with his cigarette in his hand!

windows

i had a little obsession with windows.
i was curious how they brought in the light and what was beyond them.
