memorial day weekend| camping

My frst time camping ever and it was rough. The land was still pretty drenched in water after all the rain this season so our entire campground was a swamp. We didn't want to put any of our things on the ground and have it get all muddy. We kept it all on tables and we selfishly took three. Our feet were dirty the whole time. You will see in the pictures. Not a comfortable feeling. Seeing family was the best part of the trip!

I took a little writing tablet with me so that I wouldn't forget these adventurous times.

My notes | We are camping at Evangola State Park in New York. Our campsite is right on the beach of Lake Erie ( well a cliff on the beach). The Lake is misty, you can't tell where the horizon of the sky and end of the lake meet. The soft hazy blues and purples paint the scene. It's Mysterious. I think its name comes from some Native American tribe but it does fit perfectly. It does give one an eerie vibe.

There are great things about camping like the stories, food, and fun conversations.
more notes | For dinner we grilled burgers. They got stuck to the aluminum foil we used to cook with over the grill. We had to pluck out those little pieces of foil that were stuck in the patties. The kids thought it funny and started calling them alumi-burgers! "How would you like your alumi-burger?" It's a new campsite recipe! Try them!

This is my nephew Ethan with his ghillie suit.
Were you able to spot him in the picture above?

This is what I had to live with for 2 days!

Would we ever go camping again?
Angel- Never!
Me- If it was completely dry!
David- I don't think so.
Julian- Sure.
