We had a great 2010! I started off the year with a memoir writing class. It was challenging as I had to dig deap for ways to tell my story. Also, we had friends come visit us in January and we had a blast playing dominoes and jenga for hours! We hope to have more visitors in 2011 or more visits out to others. Sometimes we just need to leave the small town.
I was with my sister when she had her 4th baby! I wasn't around for the birth of my neice or other 2 nephews but I was thrilled to be around for nephew #3. I spent the night at the hospital with my sister and had full watch over my nephew! It was great to spend that one on one time with them both!
We have been introduced to some really good restaurants. One of my favorites- Cerulean at The Village at Winona. The food is wonderful and it has a great atmosphere. Unfortunatley no good Mexican. We are going to incorporate more Mexican in our meals here at home for 2011. After all we are Jewish Mexicans! Stay tuned for recipes.
Enjoying a Tin Caps game
We never miss an HU show! We love 'em and we couldn't live without 'em!
Have you ever heard of a philospher who skateboards? We have one right here in Huntignton! It's true! His name is David Alexander and you will often see hime skating on campus! The students get a kick out of it! They challenge him to skate matches, is that what you call it?
I ran my first half marathon this spring! I trained for 7 months running 5k's 3 or 4 times a week. It was intense but it made me feel alive! This was such a huge event in my life I will never forget. I got so tired at the 10 mi. mark and didn't think I could go on. Luckily, I was running with a friend who had it in her to keep going and motivated me to push hard.
Ft. Wayne has a really nice zoo. It's beautiful! Who'd a thought! I was sure impressed by it. We took a trip there this spring and loved it.
Angel's best moment of 2010! Getting a signed poster and shirt from Adam Young-Owl City! She has been obssesed with Owl City this past year! I find the words "Owl City" written everywhere and on everything she touches! She knows every lyric and has them on her mind constantly!
Took a trip to Chicago and stayed with some wonderful people! It was more of a relaxing trip than a sight seeing trip. We had a picnic right near the bean!
We ate many meals out on the deck this spring and summer, one of my favorite things to do when the weather is nice!
David and I took a trip to DC. It was my first time there and it was super hot and humid! I'll remember not to go in July again. I had never been so desperate for water in my life! It was a great experience though. I soaked in all that architecture, history and art!
While the kids were flying around the country this summer seeing family we were hanging out here in Huntington. We dined at our favorite restaurants and enjoyed nearby activities like this car show.
Here is David anxiously waiting for the kids to get back from thier trip to phoenix. He couldn't even sit still and read his book! The kids had been gone about 3 weeks this summer and we couldn't wait to have them back home. This picture makes me laugh everytime I see it.
New rain boots= exploring in creeks, lakes and any other kind of small bodies of water. The kids brought back their cousin Ethan from NYC and had a sleepover in a tent in our back yard, this was the closest they have been to camping! I think we'll have to do that again!
We thought we found baby squirrels on the ground near a tree. We didn't think the mother would return so we nursed them ourselves. We got up every 2 hours to feed them during the night. We thought they were cute and we were so worried about them. When David took them to the animal shelter in town he found out that they were not squirrels but 'possoms! They didn't seem so cute anymore!
I turned 30 this year. My favorite part was celebrating it in my hometown of Phoenix! It was a surprise party and it was perfect! I received many Arizona suveniers to take back home and remind me of the people and the place I love.
I carry my camera everywhere with me. It has become a part of me and I can't help but look at the world through my lens. I am always trying to find different angles and subjects to shoot. Here is a picture I took through one of those blocked glass cubes you find in bathrooms except this one was at a school in Phx. I want to get better aquainted with my camera this next year and capture more of our daily life!
Going back home to Phoenix this summer was one of my favorite moments in 2010. It was a spur of the moment trip. We hadn't been back for two years and it felt so good to be back in that wonderful hot, dry desert! I was craving cactus, mountains, stucco homes and real mexican food! It was so nice to see family and old friends. I drove a full seven passenger van there and back. That's about 2600 mi. and 7 states. It was an adventure!
Spent time with my sister and her clan before she moved off to Germany. That's way too far for me. It's been hard not being able to talk so often but thank goodness for email! We plan to take a trip there to see her in 2012! (fingers crossed)
Had an amzing colorful fall!
Silly Bandz were popular in our house how about yours?
A michigan fall break! Gonna have to make that a tradition!
