Batik

 This was my first attempt at batik. I am making a trio of pillows with these tree designs. I have 2 other designs that I am working on to go with this one. One has a few branches coming off the sides with leaves and the other is smaller and has vines all over. I will add pattern fabric on the back.

The color had faded a bit when I tried getting the wax off so I decided to dye it again with the same color. As I was applying a new coat of dye I noticed that black dye was leaking on it and it totally ruined the whole thing! grrr! So now I will have to dye it a darker color which totally messes up my plan! ugh!

 I really like the picture below and decided I wanted to batik it. What did I get myself into! This one is going to take more time because I have 4 different shades on the value scale to apply. With this one I am using the color by number process. So I waxed everything that had the numbers 2,3,4 and left #1 unwaxed. Then I will go ahead and wax every number except for 2 and so on. I plan on framing this piece and hanging on our wall.
